Play as Jim Hounds, the former gangster

Jim's Nightmare: Chapter 1 is a psychological point-and-click horror game about the titular protagonist with schizophrenia. Wanting to forsake his gangster past, Jim Hounds along with Merry — the sister of gang member Timothy and the protagonist’s girlfriend — is now working at a job in a town they relocated to.

With portrayals of sensitive themes

With his schizophrenia and past wrongdoings plaguing his sanity, Jim starts a new life with Merry and finds out that a mysterious man is in pursuit of him. Taking place in the protagonist’s mind, the player helps Jim stay sane while solving mind-boggling puzzles and surviving against his enemies.

Furthermore, Jim's Nightmare: Chapter 1 is not afraid to touch on themes surrounding mental illness and abuse of drugs and alcohol. Pixelated blood and realistic depictions of criminal activities are also present in the game. That being said, this title is more appropriate for mature players.

A mature title for older players

Jim's Nightmare: Chapter 1, overall, is a mature, narrative-driven horror title packaged with survival, puzzle, and point-and-click elements. With portrayals of criminal activities and potentially triggering themes such as alcohol abuse and mental illness, it’s not a game for younger audiences.

PROS

  • Touches on mental illness
  • Point-and-click gameplay

CONS

  • Not for younger players
  • Potentially triggering themes
